Since graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration, major in
marketing, Mark has learned and worked in the Paint, Body, and Equipment industry for 40 years.
In 1970 Mark and his father Bill began the Clark Supply Corporation, one of the Midwest's oldest
PBE Jobbers. Six years later Mark became the president and sole officer of Clark Supply.
Ten years later he formed Professional PBE Systems, a speaking and consulting company.
After twenty-eight years with Clark Supply, in 1998 Mark sold the business to work full-time
as an instructor, speaker, author and consultant for Professional PBE Systems.
Among his many industry achievements, Mark was the first president of the PBEA Jobber council.
The Paint, Body, and Equipment Association is a trade group of specialty warehouse distributors,
manufacturers, manufacturers' reps, and jobbers. He was the recipient of their highest honor,
the Melvin Lubin Award, in 1994.
Mark has written about body shop issues for six different trade magazines and has had over 200
articles published since 1988. He is best known for his work with BodyShop Business, a Babcox
Publication, and he continues on the masthead as a contributing editor. As a consultant Mark
has helped several manufacturers enter or expand their business in the auto body industry.
DeVilibiss, Marson, NRD, and PPG have used Mark's programs to educate their salespeople or
their customers about our industry. PPG's Platinum Distributor network utilizes a variety of
Mark's programs to educate their members. Hundreds of PBE jobbers and warehouse distributors
have retained him to unite and train their sales forces, educate their shop customers, and
increase their sales. Several state autobody associations have employed him as their
featured speaker. On a national level, Mark has presented at the 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1998,
2002, 2003 and 2005 NACE shows.
Mark is most well-known for his training schools where his entertaining and enthusiastic
teaching style make confusing PBE concepts and terminology easy to understand. His programs
are always generic and explain the underlying principles rather than promoting features and
benefits of any particular brand. By using role playing, classroom interaction, his signature
incentive program and his vast knowledge of the PBE industry, Mark has made Professional
PBE Systems an industry standard.
Mark has been happily married to his wife Marty since 1968 and they reside in Waterloo, Iowa.
They have two children. Son C.A. graduated from the University of Iowa in 1995 and is
Vice President of a tourism information publisher in Sarasota, Florida where he lives with
his wife Michelle, daughter Loxi and son Cutter. Daughter Christa graduated from the University of Iowa in 1999 and is the Director
or Special Events for VGM in Waterloo, Iowa where she lives with her husband Andy, son Clark and daughter Evan. During his
spare time Mark enjoys relaxing at their cabin in Clear Lake, Iowa, riding motorcycles of all shapes
and sizes, and is a heck of a Ping-Pong player.

It is not necessary to introduce Mark at a speaking engagement; he can simply begin at your cue.
Please keep Mark's introductions to a minimum. He is happy to be introduced simply as
"a guy who knows a lot about auto body".
